The Caribbean Tourism Organization Honors Guyana, Belize, and Jamaica for Sustainable Tourism !

The Caribbean Tourism Organization recently recognized Belize, Guyana, Jamaica, and Turks and Caicos for setting the pace in sustainable tourism, an area that’s quickly becoming central to the region’s future. 

Rather than only relying solely on mass tourism, these destinations are investing in eco-conscious strategies like marine conservation, renewable energy use in resorts, and community-based tourism that keeps revenue local. 

Belize has expanded reef protection efforts, Guyana is promoting low-impact eco-lodges tied to its rainforests, Jamaica is integrating sustainability into large-scale resort operations, and Turks and Caicos is focusing on preserving fragile coastal ecosystems. 

The recognition reflects a broader shift: Caribbean economies are trying to balance growth with environmental protection, especially as climate change and over-tourism threaten the very natural assets that attract visitors in the first place.
