The European Union has announced more than $123 million in humanitarian aid for Latin America and the Caribbean in 2026, reinforcing its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities across the region.
The funding comes at a time when global humanitarian budgets are shrinking, leaving millions in need of assistance.
A significant portion of the aid will support countries facing political instability, violence, food insecurity, and natural disasters.
Haiti is expected to receive major assistance as the nation continues to struggle with armed violence and infrastructural instability.
Additional funding will support relief efforts in Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Colombia, and other Caribbean and Latin American nations.
The European Union also stated that part of the funding will strengthen disaster preparedness and emergency response systems throughout the Caribbean, a region highly vulnerable to hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes.
EU officials described the initiative as a sign of solidarity and long-term partnership with the Caribbean and Latin America.
